Dre Negrete, a nonbinary multimedia artist, uses photography, collage, video, and illustrations. They wield art as a tool for both escaping real life and working through it. The focus, likewise, shifts from story-driven surrealist pieces, to personal and grounded scenes from life experiences. The hope is to share their love and appreciation for the strange; to express its charm and reassure its place in people’s hearts. The style for Dre is distinctive, with bold palettes and dreamy layer blends. They have been shown in the University of Houston’s The Healing Gallery exhibit, 2019. Dre is a graduate of the University of Houston’s Photography/Digital Media BFA program at KGMCA School of Art.
